Planting instructions For Perennials

Amsonia Hubrichtii Growing Information

Amsonias prefer moist soils, but grow well in good garden soil. Drier conditions reduce the height of the plant, but they will flower well every year. They grow in full sun or semi-shade - but in drier situations they are happiest in semi-shade. Their subtle flower colour is enhanced by shade and when grown in full sun, they can look washed out.

These slow-growing perennials form tight clumps that do not need regular division or staking. They can, if needed, be divided in early autumn and replanted straight into the soil.

Asters Growing Information

Aster plants will grow well in normal soils. They will reward your with bigger blooms and a healthier plant if you add a Postasium pill.  Just by the cheapest ones they will disolve over the summer to give the roots plenty of strength and bigger flowers. Also, you can add fertilizer once a month.

Once your Aster are established, they should grow well for years. Soil should be moist, but not wet. Asters can withstand dry periods. You should water them during dry periods, once a week will keep growth vibrant and the plants strong.

Creeping Phlox Planting Instructions

Determine the planting site. Creeping phlox prefers a site that offers partial to full shade. It is a woodland plant that requires consistently moist, well-drained organically rich soil.

The groundcover spreads approximately 1 foot and adequate space should be allowed for growth.

Prepare the planting site. Clear the planting site of weeds, grass and garden debris. Placw the plug (root) equal in depth to the roots.

Position and plant the groundcover. Place the creeping phlox in the prepared hole. Fill the hole with water. Backfill the original soil and press down to firm the soil around the plant.

Water and mulch the planting site. Once all the creeping phlox is planted, water the plants again. Lightly mulch around the plants, if desired.
